MyNewsletter Builder Conclusion

MyNewsletterBuilder is a great option for sending auto-series campaigns (a series of emails scheduled to be sent in advance), survey emails, and audio/video-rich newsletters. However, their lack of both a WYSIWYG email editor and depth of statistical reporting keeps them from being a top tier email marketing software provider.

MyNewsletterBuilder: Email Creation

MyNewsletterBuilder's biggest strength is the ability to send Auto-Series campaigns, but the lack of a WYSIWYG editor makes their interface less user-friendly than its competitors. Instead of having a WYSIWYG editor, the user enters content into a series of text boxes. Above each box there is a title and brief description stating which part of the email you are editing. There are a buttons on the left hand side of the page, which allow you to “Save” or “Preview” the email, or add audio/video from your free Jukebox Alive account. This account is great for musicians, promoters or A/V savvy email marketers who wish to go beyond traditional text emails, but you don't get much instruction in using the account.

The real strength of MyNewsletterBuilder's service is the ability to create auto-series campaigns. In addition to the initial auto-responder message that is sent out when someone signs up to receive your newsletter, you can create a series of messages that will be delivered according to a schedule that you define (e.g. Send email A out after 1 week, email B after 2 weeks, etc). This is also known as “automated marketing,” and only a few email marketing providers offer it. MyNewsletterBuilder allows you select from a set of pre-created borders and backgrounds to help customize your email messages. You can also upload images to your newsletters, but you are limited to the number of articles supported by the template. One image is allowed per article. Depending on which template you choose, you can include anywhere from one to 30 articles.

MyNewsletterBuilder: Contact Management

You can import your contacts into MyNewsletterBuilder by either downloading their CSV template and filling out the unique fields, or by copy and pasting email addresses directly into the online interface. Cleaning up bounced email addresses is easy. To clean up bounces you can navigate to a page which lists each email address which bounced and you can delete each one from your list with a simple click. MyNewsletterBuilder also automatically deletes unsubscribes from your list. List segmentation is manual process. In order to segment your lists based on your campaign reports, you must first export the report and then re-upload the email addresses as a new list. This means that your lists are not segmented automatically, based on “triggers.” Overall, contact management is relatively straightforward.

MyNewsletterBuilder: Email Deliverability

MyNewsletterBuilder guarantees 99% deliverability, which is backed by their claim that they have white-list agreements with all major internet service providers. Although they do not offer a spam checker, all of the emails we sent in our tests made it to their intended recipient's inbox.

MyNewsletterBuilder: Analyzing Reports

MyNewsletterBuilder shows you the basic stats in tracking and reporting. MyNewsletterBuilder shows you opens, clicks, subscribes, unsubscribes and bounces, but they do not allow you to chart your email campaign performance over time or let you compare your results to industry benchmarks, like some other providers do. They do update their statistics instantly, but you are limited in the ways you are able to view the report. In standard format, you can export reports for opens, link clicks, and bounces, respectively, instead of as a combined report.. MyNewsletterBuilder now integrates with Google Analytics, but they do they not have a way to conduct true A/B testing. You can, however, run your own manual A/B test by sending two separate email campaigns and comparing the results. MyNewsletterBuilder: Customer Support

MyNewsletterBuilder's phone support is friendly and knowledgeable. We have historically always had a positive experience when talking to customer support by phone. But, we have experienced somewhat long wait times on live chat (about 10 minutes). For those who can wait for weekly tutorials, they do have live webinar sessions every week where they field questions from listeners and give presentations on the different tools you can use with their system.

MyNewsletterBuilder: Pricing

MyNewsletterBuilder offers four different payment plans. The first option is a monthly fee, based on the number of contacts you have uploaded to your list. The second is a prepay option, under which your monthly fee is based on how many emails you plan to send within a 30 day period. The third option is an annual bulk plan that allows you to purchase a bulk amount of emails at a discounted rate for a one-time fee. These emails are good for up to one year and you can add more at any time. The fourth option is a monthly bulk plan geared towards high volume users, under which there is a minimum purchase of 100,000 emails per month. All of MyNewsletterBuilder's monthly plans are available at a discounted rate of 10% if you prepay for 6 months in advance and 20% if you prepay for a full year of service.
